Reality Czech

Last night was such an epic night! It started when we met some awesome Aussie blokes at our hostel due to a unfortunate sequence of events with the laundry machines. It ended with a nice reality Czech and a better understanding of how good my life is.

We wandered around Prague hopping from place to place before we decided to call it a night at like 3:30AM.

I broke off from my friends cause I was so hungry that I had to eat. The only problem was that the only place open at 4AM was McDonalds 🙁

Reluctantly, I opted to get a chicken sandwich (the chicken sandwiches are actually made of chicken here in Europe). I’m not sure what went wrong with my order or what was lost in communication but I ended up with an extra sandwich and too much soda (I don’t drink much soda). There was a Nigerian guy who was loitering inside of the McDs who wanted a drink but didn’t speak enough English to order one so I just gave him mine. He was so grateful that a stranger would do that. I felt so good knowing that I was able to help him out with such a simple gesture.

When I left, I took the extra chicken sandwich cause I felt that I was given this extra sandwich for a reason. As I zig’d and zag’d throughly Prague’s streets I tried to give it away to someone in need. The first 2 people turned it down as they spouted off a bunch of Czech that made no sense to me. It seemed as though they already had food.

The last guy I offered it to instantly broke into tears and said a bunch of stuff that I didn’t understand but his actions did all the communicating I needed. His near toothless smile left a mark on my life that I shall never forget. I too got a little teary-eyed knowing that my sandwich mix up was able to make a difference to someone and not just end up in the trash or EVEN WORSE…in my stomach 🙂

Travel never ceases to continue to expand the borders of my mind. Now let’s see what wisdom Budapest has for me…
